KEAssist User's Guide

The following guide was written to familiarize KEAssist users with the macro created to format documents before beginning the editing process. It describes how to activate the macro on the user's machine and provides step-by-step instructions on how to use the macro effectively afterward.

Getting started...

  1. Double-click the KEAssist icon to run the macro. The icon will appear in the task tray on the bottom right of your screen when you activate the macro.
  2. Log in to Bitsmate and KEA for the appropriate site.
  3. Press <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + ~> to open the Kea Data Window.
  4. After all the fields are filled in, press <Enter> or click Record data. If you need to change any of this information, repeat step 3.
  5. A box displaying the data you just entered will appear in the top left corner and will remain active in the foreground. To minimize or maximize this box, press <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + C>.
  6. This box also outlines the keyboard shortcuts that are now available to you. Always remember to return to the KEA main menu before typing any of these shortcuts.

NOTES:

  • When you begin any of these processes, a message will appear in the middle of your screen notifying you that a macro is running. During this time, you will not be able to use your keyboard or mouse.
  • Some of the processes require additional data and will ask you for it after they are started. For example, the Link check asks which option to run (3 or 15) before it runs this for you. Additionally, the Create PDF process asks that you confirm the date entered in KEA for billing purposes and pauses at the Adobe dialog box so that you can update the type of PDF and page numbers, etc., that your job requires, if needed.

After you input the data for your current job...

  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + D> opens the DP for the job loaded into the macro.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E> opens the EDGAR DP for the job loaded into the macro.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + J> types the job number loaded into the macro.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + L> runs the UT utility in ACE for the loaded job. This shortcut requires you to enter either option 3 or 15.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + M> opens the Master folder for the loaded job.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N> types the page range for the loaded job in the format #‐#.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + P> replaces the Create PDF option in Macro Express. This feature improves upon the Macro Express option by entering the latest date from the Initial DP and by filling out the billing sheet. This option requires you to verify the date and time taken from the Initial DP and pauses for you to verify and correct the information entered in the Adobe PDF dialog box.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S> runs the spell check utility in ACE for the loaded job.
  • <Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Zero> creates the PDF, but does not fill out a billing sheet.

If you need to exit the macro while it is running...

  1. Press <Ctrl + Windows Key + Space> to stop the macro. This keystroke will maintain all of your job info within the macro.
  2. If the above does not work, you can also press <Ctrl + Shift + Esc> to bring up the Task Manager, then select KEAssist, then click End Task at the bottom of the window. This will completely exit the macro, and all of the job data that you entered will be lost. At this point, you would have to start completely over from the top of this page.
